Adeleka and Nakisisa - The Story of Evil

Description

Adeleka ("crown brings happiness" in Yoruba) is the sister of Nakisisa, and mother of Ibanuje and Idariji.

A long time ago, back when the East and West Sun Lands were once one large kingdom known simply as the Sun Lands, two cubs were born to the aging King and Queen. A pair of identical twins, with the only difference being that one was a female and the other was male. The two decided that whichever cub opened their eyes first would be their heir, and the second cub would be sent off to be trained by the Royal Majordomo as soon as they are weaned.

Adeleka was the first to open her eyes, thus she was named heir to the crown.

The two were seperated as soon as they were weaned, with Adeleka being trained to be Queen, while Nakisisa was trained to be the new majordomo. However, they were frequently allowed to play together as siblings do, as they wanted to make sure they would have an unbreakable bond of trust for when it was time for Adeleka to take the throne.

At the tender age of ten, her parents suddenly died of old age, leaving her the sole ruler of the Sun Lands. Unfortunately, this was quite a big task for such a young cub. Not to mention Adeleka was known to be quite spoiled due to being raised as the sole heir to the crown. She hadn't yet realized that ruling a kingdom was more than just getting what you want all the time, as her parents had yet to fully teach her this lesson before they passed.

Thus, the Sun Lands were thrown into chaos.

At fourteen, Adeleka had made quite name for herself as a nasty, cruel ruler with a quick temper. Whatever Adeleka wanted, Adeleka got. And her ever loyal sibling and majordomo, Nakisisa, always ensured it. War was a constant during this time as was death and hunger, with only those closest to the Queen never having to worry about food or drink. This caused many of the lions in the pride to resent the Queen, but none dared say so aloud, for fear of any of her royal guards, her court, or her majordomo catching wind. Any naysayers were quickly punished.

The only one Adeleka ever seemed to care about at all was her brother, so it came to a surprise when she told her court one day that she was in love with a neighboring prince in the River Lands. Uneasy but knowing the kingdom needed an heir eventually, the rest of her court agreed to send a messanger to the River Lands to ask the prince for his paw in marriage for the princess's sake.

Nakisisa goes as the messanger, and comes back with bad news: the prince has declined Adeleka's offer, because he's set to marry a commoner lioness from the Low Lands.

Infuriated, Adeleka declairs war on the Low Lands and decimates over half the pride's population before they're forced to surrender. Amongst the casualties include the lioness the River Land's prince was set to marry in only a few months time.

At this point the Sun Pride was throroughly done with the Queen's cruel and childish antics. Even some of her guard and court members were starting to become disillusioned with her. Thus, when a lioness with brilliant red eyes named Jiwe decided to overthrow the Queen, almost the entire pride sided with her. Not only that, but the River Land's prince who's love had been murdered in cold blood also offered his support, coming to help fight with troops of his own.

What little remaining guards that stayed loyal to the Queen stood no chance as they were quickly overpowered and then dispatched by the revolting crowd. Members of the royal court who were loyalist quickly fled for their lives along with surviving injured guardmembers, abandoning the Queen to her fate, and Nakisisa was nowhere to be found, thus it is assumed that he, too, had fled in the ensuing chaos.

When they storm the royal den and find the Queen attempting the access the secret escape tunnel in the back, they quickly pin her down with their claws to her throat.

"Oh, you're such a disrespectful lion." Adeleka sneered, glaring up at her captures with a smirk.

With the revolt -or rather, the revolution- completed, Jiwe takes control of the crown and puts Adeleka on trial for various war crimes and crimes against the Sun Lands. The trial is merely for appearances, however; everyone knows what the verdict will be.

Death.

The now former-Queen is brought before her people, her paws carefully tied with vines to make sure she doesn't try to make a run for it (not that she would get far anyways). She holds her head high, with a look of airy calmness about her. Jiwe, as acting Queen-Regent, reads out her crimes and her sentence. Adeleka doesn't seem bothered by this; in fact, all she does is glance around the crowd before looking up at the sky briefly, looking at where the sun is at currently and noting to herself, "Oh, it's snack time." The Queen-Regent then burries her teeth quickly into the back of the former-Queen's neck, snapping her neck and killing her before the cheering crowd.

No one noticed the ever so slightly taller and muscular stature of the former-Queen that day, nor the ever so slightly muted scent of male on her pelt.

Nakisisa ("child of the shadows" in Muganda) is the brother of Adeleka.

Nakisisa loved these times with his sister, where they could just play together as two cubs. He absolutely adored Adeleka, and made a promise both to her and to himself that he would do whatever it took to make sure she always remained safe and happy in life.

Even if it costs him his own life.

When the two of them were ten and their parents died of old age, Nakisisa was casturated as was custom of male majordomo lions, due to the fact that they were always so close to the royal family (and in particular, the royal females). Becoming a eunuch, Nakisisa quickly loses what little mane he had begun to grow, making him look almost completely identical to his sister in appearances once more. The only physical difference one could tell between them now was that Nakisisa was just slightly taller and more muscular than his sister, both do to being male and due to the nature of his work. But almost no one ever noticed these slight differences between them, and just by pitching up his voice he could easily imitate his sister.

This makes things easy on the night of the revolt. He knows what needs to be done to protect his sister, and knowing he can easily take her place without anyone noticing (least they dare to look between his legs, but that's unlikely), he tells his sister to take the secret escape tunnel in the back of the royal den and flee the kingdom. Adeleka initially refuses, not quite realizing the gravity of the situation.

"I am the Queen of this kingdom! This kingdom is mine! This is nothing more than a revolt...Hurry up and suppress the people!"

It's when Nakisisa looks her dead in the eyes and says these words does she only then realize how bad the situation really is.

"This isn't a revolt. It's a revolution."

Shoving aside the boulder that covers the secret escape tunnel, Nakisisa quickly shoves Adeleka through the entrance as the sounds of the angry revolutionists come ever closer.

"Go now! I'll buy you some time by pretending to be you."

"B-But what about you? What will they do to you when they find out you're not me!?" Adeleka wails with tears in her eyes.

"We're twins, Adeleka, remember? They won't know the difference." Nakisisa says with a small, sad smile on his face. He then rolls the boulder back into place, silently listening to the fading footsteps of his sister. He barely notices when the rowdy crowd of lions finally make it into the royal den, only acknowledging them when they shove him onto his back and pin him to the ground with their claws on his neck. Putting on his best impression of his sister, he glares up at them and sneers, "Oh, you're such a disrespectful lion." to the lion pinning him to the ground, smirking as they just growl back into his face.

He never drops the act, even when he's alone in the royal den being kept prisoner, nor when they bring him out to be executed in his sisters place. Nakisisa manages to spot Adeleka at the very back of the crowd, and knowing that he was successful in saving his sister's life, peace overcomes him as he utters his last words in his sister's tone of voice.

"Oh, it's snack time."

NOTES: So, Daughter and Servent of Evil lions anyone? These two are based off of the songs Daughter of Evil (www.youtube.com/watch?v=q46Osg…) and Servent of Evil (www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jo7z60…) by the vocaloids Rin and Len Kagamine. I figured they would be a good way to start off the begining of the end of the Sun Lands, and show how it eventually split into the East Sun Lands and the West Sun Lands. With the offical royal line now dethroned, a new Queen takes over. But how well does she rule, and how do her decendants end up basically ruining what she fought to save? That, my friends, is story for another day. :)

Speaking of Vocaloids, have you heard this one? I spoofed it for my Naruverse:

Kaguya:  Another Moon ManiacLittle bunny was a strange sight
Playing, playing, just ‘neath the God Tree
Lunar sickle does crown her brow
Before she pounds the elixir mooncakes
Fata morgana,
Cassia of Hōrai
A memento,
A coda
Of lunacy
Little insects caught in sap
In the moonlit sky above
Fluttering moths ascending
See them flying aloft
(Jeweled Branch ran quick
Rat Robe and Avian Cowrie fell in vain
In the scavenger hunt
For items phantasmagoric)
(Begging Bowl and Dragon's Pearl
Did try to deceive.
Now in crosshairs
Of jade moon eyes’ glow)
Counting one, two, three, four and so many more
Won’t you come and hunt the Moon Bunny’s eggs?
Quick, quick, before they’re all snatched up
Into baskets, then into waiting jaws
Fata morgana,
Cassia of Hōrai
A memento,
A coda
Of lunacy
Little insects caught in sap
In the moonlit sky above
Fluttering moths ascending
See them flying aloft

Hagoromo:  Shinobi GospelDemon child was a strange one
Little mooncalf borne under Tree of God
Rabbit horns do crown his brow
'til they convert into moth antennae
Celestial raiment,
Woven against the moths
An adornment,
An accessory,
Weaver’s prodigal
Little raiment drifting away
O'er the moonlit earth below
Feathered robe descending
See it tatter into dust
(For the Goddess so hated the world,
She wove a feathered raiment to smother it;
Deviated he from her designs,
Thwarting her apocalypse)
(At his Golgotha, the feathered raiment
Did gather his feathered disciples
His flesh his covenant,
Corvine communion)
Counting one, two, three, four, five, and six
Won't you come and walk the holy paths?
Blood red Moon of Armageddon
Mourning black of Eucharist
Celestial raiment,
Woven against the moths
An adornment,
An accessory,
Weaver’s prodigal
Little raiment drifting away
O'er the moonlit earth below
Feathered robe descending
See it tatter into dust

Harafu:  Echoes of GodLittle bunny found a strange tree
A place to play atop the mountain
Swift sharp prongs do crown his limbs
Before he feeds on the moths’ white dust
Daidarabotchi
Kodama of Hōrai
A Moloch
An idol
Of dendrolatry
Little child went astray
Plucking the strange fruit above
Gambol of divinities
Hear them laughing at us all
(Jeweled Branch was a snap
Rat Robe and Avian Cowrie relinquished
Seek and he did find
The items fantastic)
(Begging Bowl and Dragon’s Pearl
Unspeakably ugly discourtesy
Now between thrice-rowed ivories
Of multitudinous incarnadine glow)
Counting one, two, all fingers and toes
Won’t you come and eat the blood red fruit?
Flip, flip, any coin. Will it be Heads or Tails
After the spores pollenate Creation?

Kodama of Hōrai
A Moloch
An idol
Of dendrolatry
Little child went astray
Plucking the strange fruit above

Minato:  Harbor of ChaosGolden boy was a changeling,
Gilding, gilding, a heart of stone.
Sea and sky do shine in baby blues,
Wild yonder, calm before the storm
Fox in lamb’s clothing,
Storm on the horizon
An omen
A harbinger
Of havoc
Little black sheep clad in gold,
Yellow flash out of the blue
Turning, turning, fortune’s tides,
See the ruin in his wake
(Other winds and waves, tides forever quelled
A Toad Sage’s crops grimly reaped before their prime
All flotsam and jetsam
Of a fox’s cunning)
(Rice of the virgin field, reaped by a self most grim,
Scarecrow bears the scars, bent by ill winds.
Cream of the crop, poisoned and stunted
By a bad seed)
Counting one, two, all to the nines,
In the rice house, the fox sleeps tonight.
Little chicks counted after they’ve hatched,
Safe-kept produce in fox-guarded henhouse.
