Ma'at - Felidae OC

Name: Ma'at [pronounced MAH-AHT or MAY-AT] (named after the Egyptain goddess of order and justice); Simon [pronounced SIE-MAN] (a Greek form of the Hebrew name Shim'on, meaning "he has heard")
Age: 3.5 months (at the begining of Felidae) 
Sex: Male (intact)

Family: Nefertari (mother; deceased - died in childbirth), Ozymandias (father; alive), three siblings (deceased - still born), multiple half-siblings (status unknown - presumed alive), Tauret (adopted mother; alive), two adopted siblings (alive), Joker (caretaker; deceased - killed by Pascal/Claudandus), Pascal/Claudandus ("creator" and "uncle"; deceased - killed by Francis), Sophia (owner; alive) 

Biography

Ma'at is one of the youngest Felidae of Claudandus' program, and one of the last pure bred born while the old cat is still alive. Born to a litter of four, Ma'at, the smallest, is the only survivor much to Claudandus' shock and annoyance. Not even Nefertari survives the birth, passing shortly after nursing Ma'at for the first time. Claudandus almost decides to do away with the infant Ma'at (he is a runt after all, therefore not "perfect"), but since he seems to carry the rest of the desired traits of the Felidae breed, Claudandus decides to spare him. He may not be "perfect," but he can still pass on the right genetics to future generations. And besides, maybe Claudandus could find some use for the small kit after all. He's not getting any younger (and neither is Joker, his cohort in this plan of his), and he's just recently been diagnosed with cancer. He hasn't got long to live, so it's time to start looking for someone who could carry on his plan for the perfect feline race and the destruction of humanity after him. And perhaps this young orphan here could be manipulated into being the perfect heir.

Thus, Ma'at is handed off to a wet nurse (one of the more obedient Felidae females named Tauret) to raise him until he's weaned. After that Claudandus then takes Ma'at to Joker to be looked after. He tells Joker to use the kit in his plans to prepare the Church of Claudandus for the coming of the Felidae race while raising Ma'at to be his successor. Joker gleefully takes to this task. To the Church, he claims that Ma'at is the reincarnation of Claudandus, here to lead the feline race to salvation, while to Ma'at he tells the kit that he's destined to destroy the evil humans and bring glory to all cats by leading his fellow Felidae to battle. While Ma'at loves to bask in the praise and worship of the Church members, he's unsure of his so called "destiny." 

His world is turned upsidedown one day when his caretaker is murdered, leaving him briefly in the care of dear old "Uncle" Pascal. Ma'at is the only one besides Francis and Bluebeard to see Joker's body (having stumbled upon the body before they did and fleeing in terror), and knows the old cat is dead despite what everyone else thinks. This is followed shortly after Francis moves in and starts his investigation, and at first Ma'at thinks he has something to do with it. But he shortly finds out that this is not the case. He's hiding behind some furnature in Pascal's home when he sees Francis confront the cat behind all the murders in town. It turns out Pascal himself, the one Ma'at so fondly called his "uncle," who spoiled him and cared for him when Joker was too busy with the Church of Claudandus, is the true murderer. And it turns out he's also the real life Claudandus - Claudandus didn't die after all. Listening to the reason behind Claudandus' crimes, Ma'at is horrified and upset, and ends up running away into the streets before he can see the ending of the fight. 

His innocence now forever lost, the sweet young kitten Ma'at used to be becomes cold, untrusting, and aloof. 

Eventually, after wandering the streets for a bit, Ma'at is adopted by an elderly lady by the name of Sophia. She renames him Simon, though he continues to go by his original birthname around his brethren, as he never wants the sins of his dear old "uncle" to ever be forgotten.

NOTES: So after years and years of hearing how awesome and amazing the movie Felidae is, I finally caved in and watched it the other day. And I have to say, I absolutely loved it. Definitely not for children, but it's still an amazing work of animation. Now I really want to read the books it's based off of.
